We’ve written often about climate change denial, political pressure on scientists, the politics of the anti-science crowd, the responsibility of the scientist, and failure by the media and scientists to communicate the science of climate change.

We’ve criticized our NJ State Climatologist and NJ media coverage (or lack thereof).

We’ve documented and denounced the climate denial polices of Governor Christie, blasted his enablers in the NJ environmental community, and chided our environmental colleagues to do more.

We’ve made activists strategy and policy recommendations, pleaded with government agencies to wake up and address the climate issues, and tried to help activists whenever we could.

We’re now thinking through a post on the Pope’s encyclical and Governor Christie. Someone has to do it, because the media sure isn’t.

So, this absolutely terrifying Esquire article comes with a must read recommendation – read it and weep – and then get off your ass and do something!

When the End of Human Civilization Is Your Day Job

Among many climate scientists, gloom has set in. Things are worse than we think, but they can’t really talk about it.
