A Visit to FDR’s Estate on the Hudson River
I took a superb day trip and hike yesterday to FDR’s home and Presidential Library, in Hyde Park, NY.
Hiked up the river from there to Vanderbuilt’s estate – strongly recommended. Thought I’d share a few photos:
FDR’s home – he called the estate “Springwood”
FDR planted over 500,000 trees on the estate
ice pond – FDR did soil conservation and forestry work on the estate that set the foundation for New Deal programs, like the Civilian Conservation Corps and Soil Conservation Service
